Stained teeth is the only proven downfall. It has been suggested that fluoride in drinking water can cause diseases, but it has not been proven. Fluoride, though, can cause teeth to become brown and dirty looking. If one is concerned with the physical appearance of one’s teeth, one should not have fluoride in their water. Many claims have been made, though, of fluoride being extremely dangerous. I found a website of different doctors saying that fluoride can cause weak bones and even cavities in young children. However, most say that fluoride can be a beneficial substance.

I think that fluoride should be added to drinking water because it is an overall helpful element. Fluoride prevents tooth decay and many studies and experiments have shown that this is true. Obtaining healthier teeth will become facilitated if fluoride is already added to our drinking water. There may be a few problems that need to be worked out, but overall, fluoride should definitely be added. Unless it is proven with undeniable facts that fluoride can cause excess amount of damage in a person’s body, I stand firmly by my belief that fluoride should be added.

Fluoride needs to be combined with other elements to work efficiently. The fluoride is the main factor that helps prevent decay, but other elements that can be in toothpaste and mouthwash are needed for the fluoride to work properly. Without these elements, pure fluoride could be dangerous to people. As long as there are other alloys with fluoride, it should be safe. Overall, other elements had to be discovered to combine with fluoride.

I think having brown, molted teeth would concern me the most. No one wants to have teeth that look damaged. Even though fluoride helps prevent tooth decay, it is a downfall if your teeth look unhealthy. Most people want white teeth that are also healthy, but fluoride can only help with part of that. That is what I am most concerned about using fluoride in drinking water. There have been claims, as I have said before, that fluoride can have negative effects on the body and may be able to kill a person, but there isn’t a stable platform of proof to support this.
